First of all, thank you to everyone who has downloaded Gfire 0.7.0 and for all your positive support and feedback. The first few days of release have been great. Gfire has moved up into the top 250 projects on SourceForge!
I also want to thank Fain for his Gfire 0.7.0 64bit install for debian systems. Thank you for all your hard work, at creating support for 64bit systems. Download 64bit deb file now!
However, we need to create a Windows installer. If anyone can create a exe file for Gfire 0.7.0, Please email the Gfire team, gfire@inbox.com.

Full change logo is here.
You can download Gfire 0.7.0 at the download page.
We have provided Gfire 0.7.0 as source code, rpm file and deb file. However, we have no Windows installer yet. If you are able to build a windows installer, please let the dev team know.

Hi everyone.
As you might know, i stepped down from developing Gfire for some time now. This had several reasons, but most important, I’m a kde user, so i don’t use pidgin myself. Now I’m happy to hand over the project to a new team, Ed Hewitt and Laurent De Marez.
I would like to thank everybody for their support in the last few years, thousands of downloads and countless thankmails, made it a very interesting time. I would also like to thank the people who sent me patches or helped me in other ways to develop gfire. So, i wish good luck to the new team and hope that they will learn as much as i did during the developement.
So, no more developing from my part, but i will stick around and keep an eye on the project.
Have a nice time with the new team

The dev team has finally finished the release candidate of Gfire 0.7.0. We are just completing the final parts of the release.
We are proud to announce a release date of Thurday 1st May 2008 12:00 UTC.
This release will be a stable version of Gfire, the reason we had a close beta was because we didn’t want it to release as an unstable version.

Today we have launched a new addition to Gfire. The Gfire Games Portal is a database which lists Linux and Windows Games and shows you how to get them work with Gfire. The main purpose is to list Linux games that you can download and play. Its second purpose is to explain how to get Linux and Windows games to work with Gfire by changing the gfire_launch.xml.
Basically, its to help you to configure Gfire so it recognises the game you are playing and changes your statues while your ingame. Please help support this new section, by adding your games to the database and help other people get their games working with Gfire.

Finally after 1 and half years, the next release of Gfire is almost ready for release. Version 0.7.0 will be the first release of Gfire since 16 September 2006 and the first release for the new Gfire dev team.
The main new features include:
- ported the gfire code from Gaim to Purple
- fixed the “(AFK) Away From Keyboard” bug
Gfire 0.7.0 is currently undergoing beta testing, to make sure there are no bugs. Gfire 0.7.0 will be released shortly. However, it will be released just as source code which needs to be complied. We are looking for people to be able to create an rpm or an deb file of Gfire 0.7.0. If you are able to help, please contact us via email, gfire@inbox.com (The gfire dev team have now created the deb and rpm files)

As you maybe already have read, gfire have new developers. First of all I want to thank Asraniel for what he has done for the Linux community and welcome you to the new site of gfire
Our future plans. Do we have these? Yes we have. First of all we want to keep gfire up-to-date, we will be updating the gfire games list when a new list is launched and make sure that everything work with Pidgin. Second we want to resolve some annoying bugs, for example when a buddy is playing on a server you can see the ip address but the port is wrong. Last but not least, we want of course to add some new features, for example we have plans to make it possible to transfer files between buddies.
Want to help? You can always help us with reporting bugs and helping with the developing of the source. It is an open source project, so everybody is welcome.
